Lanz smiled. He always knew he was good for something.
But he never took into account the bear skull. It probably would've been smarter if he had noticed sooner, as now he was almost completely drained. He couldn't hunt anymore if he had really, really wanted to. So, he sat down by the fire, trying to hide the fact that he had nearly collapsed there by making it look overly dramatic.

Kat's eyes caught on Lanz as he sat. He looked tired, though he was trying to hide it. "Your fancy tricks take some power then." She muttered. With a sigh she jumped out of the tree, landing with a practiced roll as she did when she jumped through the 'Gate. "I could use a nap already, this camp is turning out to be interesting after all, in a tiring way."

"We're making breakfast..." Jerez looked at Kat sceptically. "Unless you pull off something like Lanz, it shouldn't really make you tired."
'Poor Lanz...' He thought, as the water began to steam in the skulls. He carefully set them against some rocks where the contents would not spill so that the tea could cool. Then he took the basil leaves, tore them into peices, and sprinkled them over the bear meat.

"I can't sleep on those damn bunks, I think I'll sleep outside tonight. And I'm also tired because there's not any coffee here, I can't function without coffee. If I don't get some by tomorrow all hell is going to break loose." Kat muttered. That wasn't the reason she hadn't slept, but they didn't need to know that being away from the steady hum of Atlantis at night gave her nightmares. And she definitely didn't want to be inside with them if she woke up screaming that night.

"Lanz found a coffee plant. You could grind it with some rocks. If we can find a way to use skulls to boil water, we can find something to fashion to filter the grinds out of the water after it's warmed."
For all the insane girl's supposed toughness, she didn't seem to have any practical survival skills, and that slightly annoyed Jerez as went to go look for the coffee plant Lanz had found.

"Coffee beans need to be dried before you can get coffee out of them." Kat snapped.
(ooc:And yeah, she has no survival skills. That isn't her job, she shoots things, blows things up, and figures out how alien tech work. Survival skills past building a fire and basic hunting are for Cap and the others on her team.)

((OOC: Refer to my out of character post from before... Since it's Lady Hammer's world, it's okay if reality is a bit skewed. I'll just assume that they're already dried and roasted. ))

(ooc: 'Kay then, suppose that'll be a surprise for Kat.)
Kat kind of awkwardly trailed after Jerez and when she reached the coffee plant was amazed to find the beans already roasted. That's damn weird
You'd better drink enough coffee to keep you whining in check or the rest of your team will end up hating you. Ai told her.
Why would I care? Kat snapped back, pulling some of the beans off of the plant and crushing one between her fingers, it smelled good.
Because they can make your time here difficult. Ai reasoned.
Kat ignored her in favor of picking more of the beans. When she headed back to camp she was carefully balancing a pile of coffee beans. Plopping down on her ass she grabbed two rocks and started crushing them.

(ooc:It is. I like it if it has roasted on the plant coffee beans. Wonder how those would taste...)

"So, we have fruit and bear and... power bars... and tea and coffee." Jerez said, pleased with the team's progress. "How's the meat doin' Jake?"

"I think you may want to have a look at the power bars before you decide to eat them." Kat told Jerez. Grabbing one she peeled back the wrapper and offered it to him, making a face at the smell. "They're kinda gross, this one is chocolate flavored...I think. I don't normally eat them, it's just handy to have them around if you're stuck in the middle of nowhere without food. They taste like dust but they have at least some nutritional value." She glanced over at the steeping coffee, wondering if it was done yet.
(ooc: Making an assumption with the coffee, smack me if you want it changed.)

"What do you suggest we do for the third course, then?" Jerez asked, trying to wave a way the chocolate flavored bar. He really didn't care either way what it would be, but they had to have something to finish the challange.

"Eh, let's go with power bars. I suggest only eating a bite or two of it though and relying on the other food mostly." Kat said with a shrug, tossing the bar over her shoulder into the fire and moving to her pack. "I don't think I have anything else food-like with me..." A moment of shuffling through the bag, "Nope, wait...nope. Just a melted hershey's bar. Which I wouldn't suggest eating, it's been in there for ages." The chocolate bar she pulled out of the bag was rather misshapen and twisted, making a face she threw it back into the bag. "Ew."
(00c: That hershey's bar is actually from a chapter of my story, it's been in there for...assuming this is at the point I'm currently at, six months or so.)

"Eggs?" Lanz suddenly said. "If Lady can make a roasted coffee bean plant, she can make a bird laying eggs, can't she? Or a fish? I can smell the stench of the power bars all the way from here..." he said, suddenly remembering what he told Jake about not whining.
