"I'm sure she can make them. The question is if she did and where they are at this moment in time." Kat said, "You could spend an hour running around the forest and find nothing, or stumble on something in five seconds flat. I'm not betting on the latter, so, do you want to take the chance of finding nothing and waste more energy than you already have so early in the day?" Once again she ran her hand through her hair and stopped when it caught painfully on curls, "I need to find a goddamn brush." She muttered.

"I'd say eggs sound good, but... It'd prolly be more trouble than it's worth to find and get to." Jerez remembered that the last time he'd climbed a tree, he fell and bumped his head. It kinda hurt just thinking about it. "And I'd ask Kat to go fish, but she'd prolly just blow up the whole damn river." He gave a sideways glance to the insane girl, "And Jake's taking care of the bear meat, and you look fatigued, so I guess I'll go." He flashed a smile, and headed back towards the creek.

"I would." Kat responded to Jerez, flashing him a smile as she pulled a hair tie out of a pocket and pulled the mass of tangled curls she called hair up into a ponytail. "Have fun with the fish, don't fall in and drown because I won't come fish you out."

"I know how to swim!" he retorted, "I've lived in the woods before." He turned around breifly to stick his tongue out at the insane girl. Hmpf. Her, doubting his abilities? As he continued walking to the creek, he remembered exactly why he disliked women. All they do is whine!

"Knowing how to swim doesn't stop people from drowning." Kat muttered, "What are you, a five year old?" She demanded when Jerez stuck his tongue out. And then she thought of Jason, and Jason and Cap fighting for the remote, and all of the immature things they did, and decided that with who she hung out with she had no room to talk about other people being immature.

Jerez had already caught three fish, which he was quite proud of since they were with his own two hands, and was trying to wait for a fourth one to swim up to him. That one was the last one he had to catch. He was content watching the fish swiming in the water, and listening to the last one he caught flopping around desperately on the grass by the water.
He heard another sound, but he wasn't quite sure what it was. He didn't want to look up, though. He had to keep watching that fish. But when he heard a loud, disgruntled growl, he slowly looked up.
There stood a huge, angry bear.
He tried to yell something like the word 'help' but all that came out were really tangled up but somehow increadibly loud syllables.

Hearing a yell from the direction Jerez had left in Kat leapt up, she didn't like the man but that didn't mean she wanted him dead. At least not at that moment in time. "We should see what's wrong." A horrible thought occurred to her, "Bears like fish, at least back home." She pulled her gun out and grabbed her pack full of explosives, "If it found him..." She trailed off, no way one unarmed man could fight an angry bear.

"Oh hell," Lanz muttered, grunting as he sat up, materializing his staff. "Wait for me Kat!" He said this knowing full well that if he pulled another stunt with his magic, he'd probably knock himself out. Who the hell was he going to feed from? No one apparently. But that didn't matter. He'd do what he had to to make sure there were no casualties on his team.
Jerez was growing on him as a teammate, and even Kat was, too.

Kat glanced at Lanz and frowned, "You should stay behind, you look ready to fall over." She didn't wait to see if he would, taking off into the forest towards Jerez. The logical part of her brain told her it was a bad idea to run toward a dangerous situation, the other half, the one more influenced by Ai, couldn't wait for a fight. Do we have a plan? She asked Ai.
Do we need one? Ai demanded, It's only a bear.
A very large bear if the cub was anything to go by, which makes it very dangerous and probably hard to kill.
Just point and shoot, it's easy. Ai snapped.
Alright, alright. Point and shoot, brilliant plan. She snapped back sarcastically.
Breaking out of the trees next to the river Kat spotted the bear and Jerez, and froze. Fear kept her from moving to help Jerez, never in her life had she been anywhere near an animal so large and dangerous.

((okay lol... FIRE! RAWR!))
Though a part of him was saying, 'No, Lanz, you're a man, so go and FIGHT!', he really didn't want to, so he did as Kat suggested. She could handle herself, anyway. She knew what she was doing. He, however, knew not a damn thing.
So he did what he knew how to. He began to prepare bear meat. Assuming that it wasn't already done. He was starting to experience memory lapses. A common side effect of not having enough necromantic energy.
"Geezus... Lady, what the hell..."

Jerez was frozen in front of the bear, he'd tried thought about swimming away, until he remembered that bears know how to swim too. Then he'd thought of playing dead, but thought that in the water, he may actually drown waiting for the bear to become disinterested.
He saw Kat arrive out of the corner of his eye, and his heart kinda sank, ideally he would have pictured Lanz to show up at a time like this. But nope, fate drew the insanity card, and handed it to him, so this would be what he'd have to work with. He didn't want to look at Kat, for fear that the bear would look where he was looking, taking away the all-important element of surprise.
"Kat," He said, still staring down the bear, "sneak up on it."

Ai took over as Kat stayed frozen in fear, kicking their shared body into action. Quietly she pulled a grenade out of the pack in her hand and then dropped the pack. Trying her best to be silent in heavy boots on on crackling leaves she snuck around it so she stood out completely out of it's sight, catching Jerez's eye she held up the grenade and mouthed, "Get down." Then she pulled the pin and tossed the grenade under the beast.
She shielded her head with her arms as the grenade exploded and they were showered in blood, gravel, dirt, and bear flesh.

After the explosion, Jerez got up to his feet, and tried his best to wipe off his face.
"Next time, you could just knock it out. ...'Cuz you blew up the fish I caught too." He sighed and went back to the water before he turned around with a sincere smile and said "Thanks."
Then he went to washing off the grossness from himself and trying to catch more fish.
