At once, the stern Rocutia was at the door to her team cabin, eyeing those who had showed up, standing as straight as she could. She was large, even by dire-tiger standards, in which every tiger was large. Her eyes set on Lanz when he approached.
"I trust you'll be a good boy," she said, licking her lips. "If you anger me, I don't care if Lady likes you or not - I will eat you."
Lanz did his part and bowed.
"Fine by me," he said lightly, walking inside. "You're the most ancient thing I've seen yet, anyway. How long have you been around, anyway?"
"Since Siopenne began, child. Lady's parents sent me to be her 2nd mother. I could easily be her great-great-great-great-great-great-"
"Really distant relative?"
"Yes. That works just as well."

"Hello giant tiger-cat-thing." Kat said easily as she came in, "Are you going to eat people or are you the sort that sits in someone's lap and purrs?"
Perhaps it isn't the smartest thing to anger such a beast? Ai cautioned.
The great warrior is scared of an overgrown kitten? Kat teased, Well I refuse to be. Leaning easily against the wall she eyed the creature, "You really don't look the sort to sit and purr but I'd prefer if you didn't eat me, I really would like to live to twenty-five. Even if I am going to die there."

"Ow..."
The fifteen year-old boy - young man - trudged into the cabin. He felt like he'd been run over by an elephant, and there was a lopsided lump on his forehead the size of an egg.
Without a mirror, there was no telling how horrible Jake looked right now.
There's only one thing that could be worse than this, he mused. If Kora was here. The teenager's face flushed as he thought of Kora. And what he'd said to her. No wonder his face was bruised.

Kat shook her head when she saw Jake enter. She would have said he looked like hell if she hadn't seen so much worse. "Your girlfriend gave you a nice knock on the head, hon. You may want to see if Lady'll summon you up a doc before you seriously injure yourself walkin' 'round with a concussion like that."

"She's not my girlfriend." He said, crossing his arms. "She's way below my level."
Silent words poked, prodded at him, but he refused to listen. This was not the time.
"And I don't think I have a concussion," he added in afterthought.

"Luv, she's way above your pathetic level." Kat said, and from what she could tell it was true. "And if you were knocked unconcious you by definition have a concussion."

"Not necessarily," Jake replied crisply. "Unconsciousness is only a symptom of a concussion."
I was unconscious? Damnit.
"And have you seen Kora?" He continued, quite aware of what he was doing. "She's a social leper. Satchel's her only friend."

"She's still way to good for an ass like you." Everyone is to good for an ass like you She thought. " And really, if you were out for that long and have a bump that big on your head you've more than likely got atleast a minor concussion. I should know, I've gotten and seen enough of them. Atleast I didn't have to drag you back through a 'Gate."

"Is that what she thinks of me? That I'm an ass?" Jake frowned. "Or is that just your own opinion?"

"The girl threw a rock at you, I think that says enough about what she thinks of you." Kat muttered.
You shouldn't fight with children, save your energy for the real threats. Ai warned, thinking of Lanz and the tiger.
"Oh, shut it you bossy robot!" Kat snapped aloud. Rubbing her hands over her bracelets uncomfortably, she once again attempted to pry them away from her skin.

"Actually," he admitted, his face reddening, "she threw a rock at me because I offered to pay for a hotel room."
Why the hell did I just tell her that?
Because you wanted to, stupid.
I didn't want to tell her.
I meant you wanted to get a hotel room with Kora.
Oh, god no. Jake grimaced. You're the worst conscience I ever had.

That forced a laugh out of Kat. "I'm sure she could do much better than you for that to, kiddo."

Jake scoffed, a wave of hatred for his still-nagging conscience overwhelming him. "Yeah, right. The guys back home all agree with me - she's gross. Ever since Kora moved to New York, I've had a new appreciation for girls that are worth something."

"You know, I may just drag you back to Pegasus and feed you to the Wraith if you keep being this obnoxious. " Kat threatened, not thinking it would do much good since he didn't know what they were. "And I bet they only agree with you because you're rich and they're afraid you'd hate them if they admitted to liking her. What wimps."

The boy snorted. "I'm not afraid of your so-called Wraith. And I don't see how anyone could possibly like her. Even if someone did, they shouldn't care if I'd hate them or not."
Hypocrite.
Conscience, this is NOT a time to bother me right now!
