Lacey looked away quickly. "Oh - that's...er...nice."
It was a strange picture - a frightening one, too. But it was an excellent piece of art.
"I wish I could draw like that," she said honestly.

"I wish I could draw like I used to." Kat said, looking at Lacey. Maybe the girl wasn't so bad after all. She couldn't blame her for disliking the picture really, the Wratih were disgusting creatures, things that seemed to have been taken straight from a nightmare and given flesh. "This one I think, is Bob."

"Like you used to?" Lacey's expression grew even more curious, her interest more than doubling. "I know what you mean. I wish I were a track runner again."

"Like I drew before going to Pegasus." Without thinking Kat began drawing again, "Before I ever saw a Wraith, but that doesn't matter." Just because they were talking without threatening each other didn't mean she was going to share her life with the girl. "You used to run track?" It was odd to think that a girl in leg braces ever ran that fast.

"Yeah." She rubbed one hand over the back of her neck, thinking. "Before I had to have these clunky things."

"Oh. That sucks." Kat mumbled, looking at the girl awkwardly and wishing she hadn't asked. "I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't run anymore."
You'd be dead. Ai said, speaking to Kat for the first time since their argument. Or on the first Daedelus trip back to Earth. Someone who can't run from the Wraith is a liability to their team.
Yeah, I guess. I suppose I just wanted to think I was special, that they wouldn't send me back. Kat's eyes unfocused as she turned to her inner conversation.
Would you rather be special or alive, because if you stayed with a bad leg you would never live.
Yeah. I guess I'd rather live then, just not on earth. She then returned her attention to Lacey, "I"m sure someday someone'll figure out how to fix that." Kat tipped her head toward the leg braces and tried not to feel guilty that they probably already could on Atlantis. "And then you'll be running better than ever."

Lacey smiled. "There's ways. Therapy and all that. It's just slow going, and not guaranteed to work."
It was an awkward topic, but at least Lacey was talking to someone without being snapped at, or doing said snapping.
(ooc: Jazzie's been grounded, so she asked me to take over her characters for the duration of character camp - or at least until she gets back. I'll try, but don't expect much.)

"Yeah. Well, maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones." Kat mumbled, her attention turning from Lacey to Lady. "It would be nice to have somewhere to crash until whatever we're doing starts." She said sharply, though she was trying not to be so rude, fights could wait for tomorrow. "And some idea what to expect here."
(ooc: No one but me and snowkitty are posting, what's with that?)

"Your cabins have been set up," Rocutia growled, licking her other paw. "So stay there. Get to know your team members, because you'll only ever see the others from the sidelines, and at tribal gatherings. You can expect hell if you make trouble." Lady looked at everyone quickly, and then in a poof, disappeared, cloud and all. Rocutia, Liberium, and Sancta were the only trace of her left.
"I guess we're supposed to follow them to our cabins," Aeslyn said with a slight shrug.

Lacey arched an eyebrow at Liberium. "So, um...are you the team captain or something?"

"Fu-un." Kat stressed the word as Cap often did in unsatisfactory situations. "So, Rocutia was it? Lead on." She waved her hands forward as if to shoo the beast.

Rocutia suddenly snapped her jaw with a growl at the girl.
"Your attitude needs a change more than Aeslyn's," she said. "You do not simply wave me astray like I am a mere kitten, or I'll be licking the blood from my maw that bleeds from your midsection!"
Aeslyn scratched her cheek and whispered to Kat,
"It's okay, she'll respect you if you're nice. She's like... a grouchy grandma." Fortunately, the elder tiger didn't hear her. Liberium quickly replied to Lacey, however, in a gracious tone.
"Yes, I will be your leader. Would you like to ride on my back? The children Lady used to play with as a young girl used to love to do it all the time."

Before Kat could do anything Ai had taken over their body and snapped at the tiger, "Don't ever threaten her or it will be you whose blood stains this world!"
Ai, I think it's best not to make anyone else want to murder us. We have more than enough enemies for now. Kat chastised.
These children must learn that we are not as weak as we look, Kattie. They have no respect for those who fight a war that would destroy them with ease.
They know nothing of our wars, and that is why we fight in the first place, to keep them from ever having to know. Kat took back control with little trouble and looked apologetically at the tiger, "Ignore Ai, she means no harm. She feels it is her job to protect me, though I don't know how considering we share a body." A frown creased her face, Kat really hated aplogizing for anything, especially actions she had no control over. "And maybe if you don't want to be treated as a house cat you should ask your goddess to change your appearance. Take us to the bloody cabin already."

"Sure!" Lacey replied brightly to Liberium, scrabbling up on his back. She laughed quietly as she thought of herself riding a tiger - certainly not what she'd expected from camp.

Kat stifled a laugh but couldn't quite restrain a smirk at the sight of Lacey sitting atop the tiger. "Maybe not a housecat, more like a horse." She muttered.
