Here are the exact words from my favorite author. (Tips for wannabe writers.) "Write every day. It doesn't have to be good or interesting or grammatically correct. Just write anyway. It will keep your juices flowing, and I guarantee that by the end of each session you will have at least one good sentence that you can use in the future." " Read a lot. And read the stuff you like. Not the stuff you THINK you should like. Because chances are you will write in the genre you like to read. So it's important to know how other people are doing it." "Carry a little notebook everywhere you go. If you see something funny, write it down. If you meet someone with a cool name, write it down. If you think of an interesting story idea, write it down. Get it? So the next time you're racking your brain for details, it'll be right there in your notebook." I personally like all of this advice. Anyone else have advice they've heard from authors?

Well I know I do the name thing a lot. I have a friend named Natina and I love her name so much. But I write all the time, not because I can but because I can't help it! Everything that I see just brews into some sort of plot or possible plot or character or scene... and then I write it. It's insane.
Definitely good advice, though.

Yes, and I love the first one. Because, not only will it do that, but it will improve your writing skills much!

Once one of my favorite writers once told me, "Writing a comic is like writing a movie script. It has to be nearly done and almost perfect before going into production." Which is what I'm doing now, writing the story before doing the comic. I like that advice as well. Reminds me, I should practice more.

I like that advice. A lot. Aha, I know I do the names thing. I have this big huge list of names.

Hmm, Garth Nix said something along those lines. And someone else (maybe him, dunno) said the notebook thing. Allthough, that might've been Spike Milligan.

I guess a handful or authors like to say it. Well, I suppose it is a good idea. Not that I've ever done it.

This isn't advice from authors... but this is what I do. Every single situation you find yourself in... whether it be playing sports, or simply daydreaming in the middle of class, sketch out a scene in your head of what your character would do in that situation. Example: I run cross-country, and while I run, I get ideas for fabulous action scenes for an old character, Simmer.
