"Shut up." Jerez said, quietly but a bit stern. She made him feel like a mindless follower.
...But he knew they were dieties. They couldn't possibly be anything else. ...Could they?
Jerez had to fight the temptation to drop the fish and run.

Kat laughed, I won.
How so Kitten? Ai demanded, I don't see him converting to atheism.
I didn't think he would, no one believes us that easily. But I made him angry and confused, I've won for now. I don't care what he does really, I'm just sick of Pegasus and gods and the death that follows them. She replied, smiling. Aloud she said, "Fine, you aren't my concern, your people don't matter, go ahead and worship false gods. I don't have the stake in it that Earth does, I don't see it as my business to set every alien I meet straight on gods and the universe, I just like a good argument. Which I didn't get but whatever."

"What I don't get," Lanz replied, listening to Kat's missing belief, "is why would you CARE? If these deities with immortal blood are doing things that are good for their world, why do you feel the need to get upset for what they are? It's not like they claim to be gods. At least not where I come from. They're born like that. In fact, there's a huge cult that hates Lady Hammer because she spends too much time in the mortal realm. She's expressed that she feels more at home with them than with the other immortals.
"If they were harmful beings, like the ones I used to work under, I could understand you being riled up over it. Otherwise, I think you should shut your mouth. You don't know the inner workings of every world. One day, you might just be proven wrong."

"It's the idea, power corrupts. Especially beings like that who have so much influence over humans. Our enemies started out nice, helping their people and all that shit and now they're just sacrificing them by the thousands to keep the gods strong enough to fight a pointless war. Good things go bad fast, you can't trust anything with that much power that's lying about being a god." Kat snapped. "And as I said I don't give a damn about your people as long as those gods don't come near my galaxies, just saying you should watch your back."

"You should watch yours," Lanz said sincerely. "It's different here."
And then, there was a rustling from above, and when Lanz tilted his head up, Lady Hammer was there above him, lying leisurely on her cloud as if she had been listening the whole time. Remembering her quick temper, he wondered if she'd act on it, but was quickly relieved when she smiled.
"It doesn't surprise me that you feel that way, Kat," she said. "Gods to turn sour. My brother is one of them. I'm in this neverending struggle to keep him at bay, and it sucks. I can't back out of it because of what I am. But I understand what you say. Things are different where you're from. They sound a lot... darker."
She came down from her cloud, and soon, Rocutia was in the area.
"What do you think of them?" she asked, hiding a small snarl. "I can't say I'm happy with them."
"You're not happy with anything," Lady said plainly. "Ignore her. She finds some odd beauty in being rude. Tell me what you guys have here! It smells great!"

"Tea, coffee, fruit, bear, fish." Jerez said, pointing to each thing in turn. He was happy that Lanz defended his position, especially since Lanz was so much better at arguing than Jerez was. 'He reminds me of Silver.'
And he was also happy because now, they might be able to eat.

Kat raised an eyebrow at Lady, From her earlier reaction I'd expected her to blow up at us for this little conversation.
Hold your tongue child before your love or arguing gets you in real trouble. Ai snapped.
It's usually you who gets us into these arguments. And what real trouble could I get into here that's worse than being back home locked up on a hive ship? Kat snapped back, frowning. It was unusual for Ai to take another side in an argument that involved more than just the two of them. "Heya Lady, kitty." She nodded at the goddess and the tiger, "Are we done with this yet? It's getting boring sitting here staring at a fire arguing with your lover and your worshiper."

The sound of twigs snapping and leaves being crushed underfoot signified the arrival of someone new. A slender boy emerged from light foliage, looking slightly uncertain, slightly lost. He looked out of place, pale and small in a forest clearing where the sun's punishing rays tanned easily.
On his way, it was apparent that he had passed the stream, because he held a fairly large fish in his hands. It seemed almost as if he was in danger of collapsing under the weight of the dead fish, having such a thin, delicate - almost feminine-esque - build. In the sun, Kyle's icy blue eyes shimmered a pale silver-blue. He meandered over towards Jerez, a little intimidated and nervous by his appearance alone. It wasn't that he looked scary... he was just... so pretty.
“Sorry, I'm—really late, aren't I?” he said hesitantly, his voice soft as a feather.

"Yeah, you are." Kat said, eying the boy coldly. She was still unhappy about Ai siding against her. "Everyone else got here yesterday, this challenge is already practically over."

He slowly tore his gaze off Jerez to look at Kat, shrinking a little under her contemptuous glare. “Okay,” he murmured, looking away quickly, “Well... look, I'm sorry.” He sighed, feeling the weight of the fish. He had a funny look on his face as he looked up.
“Fish?”

"If you throw that fish at me like Jerez did I'll shoot you." Kat warned, noting the look on his face. She grabbed her gun once again and held it up in warning. "And sorry doesn't matter really, it's not like you would have been useful anyway."

He stared at her. He'd just thought it might have looked slightly odd, that he was standing there with a large fish in his hands... and now this crazy girl was threatening to shoot him. Kyle frowned, inching away from Kat, unsure what to think of her. “Ahh... relax, I'm not going to throw it at you,” he said slowly, raising an eyebrow.
Jerez? Kyle turned his attention back onto the boy he'd seen when he first came into the clearing. Is that his name?

"Good, I'm not touching one of those things again." She slipped the gun back into her bag and retrieved a smaller blue bag. Out of that she pulled black eyeliner and a mirror and started to fix the makeup that had been washed off of her face in the stream along with the bear blood.

"Welcome to the... 'game', Kyle. Unfortunately, this team might be a bit challenging, 'cause I'd say the personalities are working at 100% from every corner. But that's okay!" Lady said, clapping her hands. "And I like your menu. I like it a lot. Very healthy, the tea is a nice touch... in skulls... but that's no matter! Bear looks great, fish is healthy, so is the fruit... I'm quite impressed!"
Lanz was relieved. Immediatley, he took a chunk of bear meat, not caring if Lady was done with her inspection, and took the biggest bite he could manage. He was starved, both his soul and his stomach.

Kyle didn't know exactly what to think, but as it turns out, he didn't need to. “Okay, sure,” he said, still uncomprehending. It probably didn't matter anyway. He lightly set the fish on the ground and looked at the... food... that his team members had hunted, foraged for and otherwisely produced, all before he had arrived.
He didn't feel like he deserved any of it, though he was hungry, and so refrained from sitting and tearing off a chunk of bear meat.
