"WHAT?!?!" Julie cried, every head in the class- with the exception of the oblivious Mrs. Gliven- turning to wards the outburst. "Oh, sorry... Continue pretending to listen.." Julie murmured. The students turned back to their doodling as the history teacher droned on loudly about who knows what. "So he kissed you right in front of everyone? He must really love you. Public shows of affection are prohibited in school. Lucky you didn't get seen by a teacher."
Sarah had told Julie everything good that had happened between her and Troy since she met him. "Mmmm.. I guess.." Sarah replied.
"So, we know he loves you.. Do you love him back?"
Sarah paused before answering. "I dunno... Well... I mean... I really like him..."
"You know what I like about you? You're so specific and to the point. You don't consider things out loud or give an answer that is in the least bit unspecific..." Julie grinned. Sarah blinked in response, and, turning to the textbook in front of her, began to doodle.
BRRRING!!
The teacher jumped at the sound of the school bell, and students zoomed out of the class before any homework could be assigned. "Well, at least she heard something this period.." someone snickered. "That wasn't very nice..." Sarah said. "He's right you know.." Julie threw back as she headed for her locker and Sarah went to wards hers.
*************************
"Sarah... Sit down, will you..? We have to talk.." he mother said as she entered the back door. Only a couple boxes were left on the floor. "Sure mom... What's up?" she replied. She threw her bag on a chair and sat in another, wondering what was going on.
"What would you say if I told you.." her voice trailed off. She took a deep breath and continued. "What would you say if.. I told you that... Your father and I we.. Well.. Actually you... You are... I'm pregnant!!" Sarah's jaw dropped. "Huh?"
"I'm having a baby!!" her mother replied.
"Oh.. Uh... That's.. That's great mom.."
"I know, Isn't it? I'm so excited!! Aren't you?"
"Umm.. Yes... Not really... Maybe... I don't know..." Her mother's face fell. "You're not excited... Are you?"
"I'm sorry mom... But.. No, I'm not all that peppy about it.." Sarah got up and went to her room after grabbing her bag.
A little brother or sister... That'll take up all of mom and dad's time. They won't have time for me.. she thought as she flopped onto her bed, sighing. Why is it my life that always has to be flipped upside down?
She got up and went to her laptop, deciding to check her e-mail. There were many from her old friends in various cities, a few that were junk mail, and one from a girl in her algebra class. She was kind of a nerd, and no one really liked her. Her hair was kind of messy and greasy, and she wore ugly, broken glasses. They called her a God freak. She put mer mouse over the delete button, but then decided it couldn't hurt to look.

Hey Sarah! What's going on? I am just sending you this e-mail to invite you to youth group tonight! It starts at 7:00 sharp, and don't be late, or else you'll have to do something stupid! Don't worry about telling everyone else, I already have!
The e-mail went on to tell her where the church was, what entrance to get in by, and Sam's number if she couldn't get a ride there. Sam ended the e-mail by putting Jesus loves you, hope to see you tonight! Sarah sat there, wondering if she should go. Well, this girl had taken all that time just to invite her, so the least she could do was show up at least once. Anyways, she doubted anyone else would come, so no one would give her a hard time at school. She put her fingers on the keys and started typing a reply.
Sam, I'd love to come to your youth group tonight. Thanks for inviting me! I will need a ride, so I'll call you in case you don't get this. Wow.. that was a stupid thing to say.. Anyways.. So, come by anytime before seven, I'll be ready!
She sat and waited, to see if she would get a reply.
Her phone rang, and she picked it up. "Hello?" she asked into the receiver. "Hey, is this Sarah? It's Sam," said a slightly familiar voice.
"Oh, hi Sam! Did you get my e-mail?"
"Yes, I did. I just decided to call instead of clogging up our in boxes with e-mails. My mom can pick you up at 6:15. I like to go early and socialize."
"Okay, sure.. Hey, how did you get my phone number and my e-mail?"
"Oh, I went online to the school directory. They have everyone's adress, phone number, and e-mail there."
"Oh.. Well, okay.."
"See ya!"
"Later." They both hung up, and Sarah tuned back to all her e-mails.
