Hey there! This is the general stuff about my recently started story, A World Without You. (Or I Miss You or You're Gone. I haven't decided yet. Do you like one better?) Anyway the super-simplified plot is this: 5 kids start noticing that they have a strong connection with different elements. The elements are water, fire, earth, and air, plus one that is kind of "in charge", I suppose. My main characters are Alice Storm, the leader with strange gifts; Namine Worthwell, with a strong tie to the earth; Mariette (Mari) Orchard, who finds that she has control over water; Donald Parker, who is a pyromaniac to say the least; and Brandon King, who commands the wind. The thing is that they just can't get these abilities under control. Leaving is apparent- either that or hurt everyone they love. So the five kids say goodbye to their homes forever, not knowing what they are looking for. It isn't very developed yet. What I'm thinking of doing is having these kids save the world. From a really old idea of mine. Basically this huge mob of greedy, envious people want the elements for themselves. Except these are not normal people, because they’re from a different dimension (or something.) They tear up whole worlds just looking for those who posses this power and wish to take all five for themselves. If you like it tell me because I’m not so sure I like it.
Basic lists of the characters in next post.

Alice Storm is a pretty name, but I think it'd be more fitting for an air-controller lol. :3
The plot is overused (I'm thinking of W.I.T.C.H. myself), but with good twists and stuff it can be really good. What you have is good, but I'd make sure to jot down some sort of scene index or something to keep track of it so that you don't make kinks or mistakes in the plot later. The best thing to do is make sure that EVERYTHING is developed before you start writing stuff out.
Make sure your characters are developed so you know how to write them, make sure that your opposition is developed so you know how to write them, etc. Don't leave anything hanging! :3 If you write even the minor characters at 100%, it'll make a better read.

I've only had these cahracters for a week and they are totally UNFIRGURABLE! it's really annoying. But whatever, I might jsut put this one aside until Alice decides to tell me something about herself. I don't even know what they look like. :/ Yeah, I know the plot is a little used (a LITTLE?), but it was either that or just have some weird 5 random powers. which do you think is better? the other option would probably be; flying, becoming invisable, walking through walls, shapeshifting, and a connection with electronics.

Hmm... how about different elements? There are five KEY, NATURAL elements (earth, air, water, fire, and spirit), but there are lots of other stranger ones out there that sometimes are considered synthetic and unusual. Ethereal (think ghost stuff), strictly rock, strictly magma, strictly flora, mind waves, ice, poison, etc.
There's a part in my roleplay session with my friends where they come to a place where there are people with special "Adept" abilities (such as the natural elements), and if they want to take their try to see which innate ability they have, they roll a 6 sided die.
1 = NONE ROFL UR A LOSER 2 = Earth 3 = Air 4 = Fire 5 = Water 6 = Roll again for unique ability
The second roll for the unique ability is like this:
1 = HAHA U SUCK AND GET NOTHING 2 = Ethereal control / Psychic / Ghost (something like that) 3 = Poison 4 = Rock 5 = Flora 6 = Electricity
Something like that might be really cool. If you use ethereal abilities, I suggest doing a little bit of research, because that stuff is AMAZING. It's really interesting, too. But maybe have something like... everyone has a natural innate "regular" elemental ability, but when the unique ones are discovered, people start wanting to control them so the main characters have to flee. OR, keep your same plot, but the bad guys all have regular elemental abilities, and have heard about these unique ones and want them.
Iono. Just a suggestion. :3 I hope that helps a bit.

See you know what you're doing already! ;D Except people in mine didn't get more than one. lol. xD Except for one, but he was so unfortunate and deranged that he needed something to make him worth playing.
:3 Does that give you any ideas, tho?

What is Ethreal?

Ethereal is another plane that lies directly over the physical plane (what we're on) where ghosts and stuff are. When the veil between the two are really thin, or if the ghost or spirit or phenomenon can somehow manage to get through to the physical plane, then we can see them. Some people have a sensitivity to the ethereal plane and can see right through it, and often children have a sensitivity to it.

I know it's pretty kickass, isn't it? I'd love to see a character who could manipulate that plane. It makes me drool thinkin' about it.
I always pictured Morgan Webb being someone who, if she was in fact a character in a story and not an actual person, would be something cool like that.
But I dunno if anyone here watches X-play or G4 for that matter.

(yeah I spent like three hours figuring out every little detail of her. 1 down, 4 to go!)
Character Sheet Alice- A World Without You Name: Alice Kaitlin Storm Age: 15 Birthday: 12.3.91 Part in book: Leader of the group Appearance: Long dirty blond hair, about three inches below her shoulder blades. Usually has some sort of accessory, I.e. headband or barrette. Usually up. Blue/green eyes with tiny lashes that change color at random. Ski slop nose. Thin cherry-colored lips. She wears a lot of makeup (lip gloss, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, cover-up, nail polish) and feels naked without it. Peachy colored, somewhat dry skin, but acne-free. Normal preppy teenage-girl style, (read: Abercrombie, Hollister, American eagle). However she doesn’t care what’s “in” and will wear a shirt from three years ago with pride. Has her ears pierced once so she really loves earrings. 5’7, average weight. Personality: Decisive and stubborn, but pouts when she doesn’t get her way. A team player. Super grudge keeper. Not very book smart (grades: B’s, C’s) and must become increasingly street smart. Thinks on her feet (sometimes leading to regrets). A mean-like sense on humor. (that is putting down other people to get a laugh.) She would jump off a cliff for her friends, and sometimes that loyalty puts her in danger. (just wait and see.) In her circle of friends she is the gossiper. Out of all her best friends Namine is her favorite even though she would never admit it. As leader she has to try and be fair, you know. Tries to keep a cool head but if someone is major-annoying her she’ll explode and there will be no stopping her. Alice likes having a small fallowing and isn’t afraid of looking like a fool. Seems to be clumsy at the most inconvenient times. History: Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Nicole and Jordan Storm, two middle-class working people with one daughter previous to Alice. Her family was most definitely not rich but also not poor. She grew up in a medium sized home in one of the nicer areas of the town, but she was always morbidly fascinated with the slums. She used to sneak off to bad parts of town with her friends until her parents found out after a mugger nearly killed her. Ever since her parents have been very strict. In fact, they made their child “shape up” by making her take up tennis, Girl scouts (later quit), and cello so that she wouldn’t have time to wonder off. Lately tennis and cello balanced with homework, friends, and above all family has gotten to be too much. She started noticing her connection to electricity about a month ago but hasn’t told anyone. Likes: Adventure, nighttime, big cities, really LOVES her family Dislikes: School, sleeping, reading, crowds Siblings: Two; One sister, Donna, 17; One brother, Matt, 10 Hobbies: Plays tennis, although not too seriously. It calms her down. Taking photos of nature. She likes to display them on her bedroom wall. Strengths: Balance, thinking in tough situations, hiding Weaknesses: Speed, strength, cooking Allergic to: Grass (makes her break out in rash), peanuts (although not too seriously, just hives) Nickname(?): None Fears: Bugs, a loved one getting hurt, deep water (almost drowned when she was little), tight spaces (claustrophobia) Theme song: Big Girls Don’t Cry- Fergie Other: Has a strange connection to electronics. I.e., turning on the TV without a remote; stereo turning on at will just as she wanted it to, coaxing computers, if a power outage happens her house still has electricity. In addition, she is physic Favorites: -Song: Lollipop- Mika -Movie: Any romantic comedy -Color: Green -Food: Chocolate-covered strawberries -Season: Fall Peeves: Whining- she has absolutely zero tolerance for it.

Whoo, these take forever 2/5 Name: Namine Acalia Worthwell Age: 15 Birthday: April 10 Part in book: Part of the group; co-main character Appearance: Super pale skin, doesn’t tan at all. Dark brown hair just below her shoulders that she always sweeps to one side of her neck, but some pieces aren‘t big enough so they stray. She doesn’t care much about her face & body appearance, but does pay attention to her clothes. She has more of an eccentric style, but sometimes she’ll just wear a fancy dress to school for no apparent reason. Huge bright green eyes that some people might say are buggish. Small, ok nose. Pale pink average sized lips. Yoga-toned with slight muscles. Around 5’6. Does not have any chest to speak of. Some people might call her pretty. Personality: Super-daring and she’ll do anything without a second thought. Optimistic, walks with an extra bounce in her step. Totally clueless when it comes to school. Her grades are mostly B’s, but she doesn’t care that much, and neither do her parents. She doesn’t have much common sense. Generally a fun person, hard to get her in a bad mood. However, her daring personality makes her partial to temptation and she often gives into it. Doesn’t go out of her way to please anyone but herself, and doesn’t go out of her way to meet new people and make new friends. Self-centered. Very gullible and tends to take things literally. Unpredictable and irresponsible. Excepts that Alice is their leader and always fallows her orders without question. History: Born in Ontario, Canada, to Jonathan and Tracy Worthwell. They always put her on a pedestal because she was their only. Her family had tons of money in Canada, but Mr. Worthwell lost his job, and they made a trip across the border to Wisconsin. Now the financial situation is a little better than it was in those low times. Namine had one friend back in Canada before the move when she was nine. She tried to be more social at her new school, but that didn’t work well, so she was lucky when her current friends invited her to sit at their lunch table. She hasn’t made one friend outside of her group. Started noticing her gifts about two weeks ago, when she made the gardening get done without lifting a finger. She hasn’t even thought to tell anybody and just thinks that it’s cool to have such an amazing secret. Likes: Drawing, outdoors, bad jokes, laughing Dislikes: Her parents, rainy days, gardening Hobbies: Enjoys yoga, some weight-lifting, and shopping Siblings(?): Nope, only child Strengths: Thinking outside the box, running, memorizing things Weaknesses: Being the leader, concentration, people Allergic to: Milk (lactose intolerance) Nickname(?): Nami Fears: Global warming, the apocalypse, death (she never thinks any dangerous thing she does will lead to death, though) Theme song: Runaway- Avril Leveigne Other: She has given the gift of earth, and can heal people. She cannot heal huge gashes or broken bones in one try. She can, however, speed up the healing process so that a broken bone is healed and stronger within three days. Later in the book Namine can heal without touching what she is healing, even though that is even weaker. Favorites:-Song: Love Today- Mika -Movie: The Harry Potter series -Color: Dark purple -Food: Pea Soup -Season: Winter Peeves: People chewing with their mouth open, or making a smack sound while they eat. After a while she just has to yell at them to shut up.

How do you pronounce Namine? I know thaa names aren't copyrighted, but there's an extremely popular video game character named Namine from Kingdom Hearts II that you could get some crap for... :/ Her name is pronounced "Na-mee-nay". Just a heads up... I wouldn't want people to get on your hide for something like that.
But otherwise you have great characters. :3
