This is probably something random to you which I doubt many people will know the answer to. Does anyone know what fruits orangutans like to eat?? All I can find is basically neesia fruits. And I know all about them. Heh. I'm writing a jungle-based story and would love it if anyone has some sort of answer Thanks

Hmm... they eat pretty much anything, so I've read. Durians, ficus, figs (about 50% of what they eat are figs), etc. They'll eat ripe or unripe fruits, but a certain part of the year, they eat other things.
LOTS of leaves, a little bark, flowers, buds, shoots, bulbs, roots, vines, fungi, but not a lot of seeds. They forage for insects, too, but that's about 15% of their diet. Y'know, the typical termites, ants, bees, caterpillars, etc. Males eat more insects, or at least spend more time forraging for insects, than do females or young. I think they even eat bird eggs sometimes...

Thanks so much! I'd heard about the bark and leaves bit but the figures you put will be really useful. Oh, and the fruits! Thanks, it'll be handy.
