Alright, I admit it - this isn't really mine. I pilfered (and edited) it from my drama packet, titled Pre-Rehearsal Process.

I've found it quite helpful in developing both theatrical and written characters, so enjoy!
I've separated this into several posts for organization.

As you look through your [first chapter], physically write down the lines that indicate the following:
1. The facts about the character. By facts I Mean the information that is absolutely incontrovertible - no emotions, no adjectives, no moral judgments...just facts.
2. What your character says about him/herself.
3. What your character says about other characters.
4. What other characters say about your character.

Character Analysis [Answer from your character's point-of-view.]
1. What is your super objective? (What do I want?)
2. What is your objective per scene? (What do I want [now]?)
3. When and where is the action occurring?
4. What is your relationship with the other people directly involved in your life? Describe.
Physical Appearance:
Describe.
Psychological:
What drives/motivates your character? What makes them tick?
Morals/Values:
What is important to the character? What does the character value most? Does the character have a family and if so, in what ways are they valued? Does the character know right from wrong?
Social:
What social class is the character? What is the character's occupation? Is the character educated? If not educated, does the character have common sense or a sense of self?
Enviroment:
Describe the place in which the character is living.

Ask these questions of your character and then ask how = how they change your [...] character choices.
1. What is your full name? 2. Do you have a nick-name or pet-name? 3. What do you like about your name? 4. What history does it have? 5. What is your age? 6. How does it relate to your spirit? 7. How does it relate to your experience in life? 8. What is your placement in your family? 9. What is your present marital status? 10. How does this affect or influence you? 11. What is your greatest responsibility? 12. Where do you live? 13. Do you consider it a home? Why? 14. Do you enjoy social life? 15. What is your most comfortable social mix? 16. What is your profession? 17. How does it affect your social status? 18. How does it affect your mental health? 19. How does it affect your physical being? 20. What kind of education did you have?

I tried out the chracter questions and actually learnt a lot of stuff I never knew about my charrie. It was really 'educating' Thankies for posting
