For the story. Several of them actually. To make the story more realistic. And there's so much research!!!!!! I have a HUGE book that I'm staying up late every night taking notes on to make sure I get everything right for the relative time period I'm working with. Like how the stairs always have to spiral clockwise.
If anyone knows anything about castles or can recommend some books on them I will adore them for ever(or at least until someone else helps me)

I don't really know anything too much about castles, but I will keep my eyes open. If there's a library by you or something, try looking for those big picture books that label everything with little captions. In the elementary school library I used to go to, there was this one book like that about a Pirate Ship and I loved it. ^^

good luck! It sounds like a lot of work XD
I should probably do the same for my story, but with a forest instead of castles.

I've got a couple of those picture books as well as a book on castles in Europe but any more information is welcome. I"m taking notes and when I'm done I need to draw the castle with all of the right features, I may post the drawings if I can figure out how.
