Tell me what you think:
The door shut with a click.
The lights off, computers silent, tools stationary. The workplace was empty. Dahlia slid her keycard through the security slit, and the door locked. Finally, she emitted a relieved sigh.
Checking her watch, the 2 a.m. formed sweat at her temples. She still had time, she told herself. The operation wasn't over yet. With the quietest steps she could manage, she went over to the security camera monitors, and her shaky fingers flipped one on. She didn't care if her prety fed off of electricity - she'd take a risk to see if it was coming. Quickly, she turned off the security and locking mechanism master controls, and her hand slid over her leather pants until it came to her gun's holster. It was coming. She'd have no other option than to lead it to her.
Her hand then drifted to her walkie-talkie.
"Red to S.O.F.I.A."
No answer. Dahlia growled to herself.
"Red to S.O.F.I.A., please respond!"
"S.O.F.I.A. here, sorry. We can barely get your signal, Red. Where are you?" The young male voice on the other end wasn't comforting in the least bit.
"Dammit," Dahlia said, "it must've chewed the antenna outside the base!" Suddenly, the voice left, and was replaced by a familiar, yet upset female.
"Dahlia, what are you doing!?" she shouted. "Turn off the talkie! Turn it off! The thing's going to find you!"
"Karrie, that's exactly what I want," Dahlia said in a whisper. "I can't find it, so I'm going to let it find m--"
Something sprinted down the hallway on the monitor.
"Dahlia?"
"Shh... I have to go. I think it's coming."
She turned the walkie-talkie off before Karrie could respond, and slowly stepped up to the monitor. Transfixed, she turned another one on. Just another hallway. Sounds of steps on metal came from every direction, but Dahlia refused to panic. She drew her gun.
Eh, eh? What'ya think?
